Sadly I think La La Land will clean up, although there are some far more deserving movies nominated.

... Star Trek Beyond deserved a better nomination. Best Makeup and Hairstyle? - like anything in Sci Fi is ever going to win a serious Oscar award, oh well.

my fave movies of 2016 are Suicide Squad and Angry Birds - i'm not a highbrow movie-watcher so I'm not into the oscars...
but i was glad the Martian did well last year as a sci fi! yay!

It was pretty good over all until the very end wit that major F up that happened. I think Warren Beatty was given the wrong envelope so he opened the best Actress. Glad La La won in the music area but I think they should have won BP. Overall I thought it was quite good.

Alas, Star Trek lost. There really is no love for sci fi at the Oscars. Maybe someday...

Hardly surprising really, sci fi just gets the short straw every time doesn't it? lol

Academy voters don't really care for blockbusters. So it's kind of neat that a blockbuster still won the category.
