EVERYONE MATTERS - STAR TREKS SCIENTIFIC FUTURE GIVES US HOPE

Hi Trekkers! In an age of tongue twisting technobabble getting your trekkie on at a Star Trek convention was such an enjoyable experience. Enthusiastic fans looking towards the stars, concerned about our little world have Star Treks scientific future to cling onto for hope. Even though some say Star Wars resurrected the franchise I say, hold on!!! Everyone matters.

Yes, eager Star Trek fans with Paramount concerns trekking across earth want to be counted too. Don't forget us! Curious sciencefictionist  explorers we are boldly going seeking out new friends on new "civilizations" who love the fundamentalism of Star Trek.

Lots of us will remember the 90's and well into 2000's when Star Trek engaged the hearts and minds of every living trekker on earth. Mr Spocks respect for science and Uhuras honeyed voice opening up sub-space frequencies -  Last year more than 200,000 tickets sold for New Yorks Comic Con with San Diego seeing 135,000 attendees at its in person convention for the year.

For a while it was beginning to feel like Star Trek ruled the globe. Along came CBS, Netflix streaming, Amazon Prime and Crave TV. Its a widely enjoyed phenomena that Star Trek celebrities united the fans who immediately go to conventions packed with lovable mysterious monsters etc and geek out.

We enjoyed the fun chats, Q and Answers with the stars, high fives, photo shots, autograph signings and news updates.

Today as the covid19 pandemic sweeps across the earth dozens of Star Trek celebs have lined up for Virtual Trek Con.... Trekker to Sci-fi fan its not quite the same is it?

Nevertheless, the message is clear, stay safe.

The last Virtual fan convention Variety reported ran from 22-26 was no more exciting than enjoying a nice cup of tea. To answer this question logically, Twitter tweets for Comic-Con@Home have nosedived to 93,681.

Virtual Star Trek convention have slashed fan numbers by 95% so far (for 2020 ) Where did the live convention fans go? Apparently no-ones tweeting much on Twitter anymore (about pure Star Trek excitement because well...... lets just say the buzz has died) compared to 5 days in 2019. The figures speak for themselves 1,719,000 vs 93,681

So Trekkers, with Star Trek Streaming and Virtual Fan Conventions on the menu this year.... at least we're not having gravy with our ham salad while watching Star Wars on TV.

1. CBS All Access
2. NETFLIX
3. AMAZON PRIME INSTANT VIDEO
4. HULU
5. Crackle
6. YOUTUBE
7. Drama Fever
8. CRUNCHYROLL
9. TWITCH TV (JUSTIN TV)
10. ITUNES/ GOOGLE PLAY STORE

Star Trek or Star Wars? go on now don't be shy.....

Which Star Trek show rocks your boat, CLASSIC, TNG, PICARD OR DISCOVERY?

So what impact are virtual fan cons  having on peoples lives vs the noisy Star Trek conventions of the past year?

THE LEGEND PICARD RETURNS

Heres Patrick Stewart chatting to a packed convention hall in Star Trek Las Vegas as only he can, "Make it so". The fans of course loved every minute of it and couldn't get enough of "the Picard" news. How do you separate the legend from the man? So everyone settled down and listened to Stewart speak and WOWSERS!  He just blew us away..... and this is just the beginning!

"You know, whatever happens in the next few years what you did makes it all worthwhile anyway. However I have to tell you, he (Jean Luc Picard) may not and I stress, may not be a captain anymore. He may not be the Jean Luc that you recognize and know so well. It may be a very different individual - someone who has been changed by his experiences. 20 years will have passed which is more or less exactly the time of the very last movie Nemesis and today. We have no scripts as yet, we're just talking, talking, talking storylines.

It will be I promise you, I guarantee it, something very very different but it will come to you with the same passion and determination and love of the material and love of our followers and our fans exactly as we had it before. Thank you so much, I will see you all again very soon.

PICARD IS BACK

Serial number: SP 937-215
USS Stargazer (NCC-2893), (2333–2355)
 USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D, (2364–2371)
USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E, (2372–)

Here is a list of Starfleets spaceships captained by JEAN LUC PICARD. Impressive isn't it? To boldly engage worthy opponents of the Federation's like Preator Shinzon, Ardra, Q the Omnipotent, Nausicaans and the Borg Queen took strength of will and determination which we've all experienced in Star Trek TNG....well now the most noted captain in space exploration and interstellar diplomacy...... I'm lost for words my friends,  Picard's back...

CAPTAIN JEAN LUC PICARD
STAR TREK FIRST CONTACT

Word is we're definitely witnessing the return of our Star Trek hero, friend, diplomat and protector to guide us once again through the stars after 18 years of wilderness... Star Trek nemesis, well lets be honest was pure bewilderment and Data's death? lets not even go there!!! what a disaster. Fans say Picard is great for talking his way out of trouble but do you consider him an action-man? Remember Star Trek First Contact? Despite all his diplomacy, tough talk, and we come in peace, Picard proved he had what it takes to blaze off rifle rounds and make Borg pay....

Amazon beat Netflix to stream CBS' new Picard series in more than 200 countries and territories. The show is currently filming to stream later this year which began in April in Los Angeles, so how will Patrick Stewart reprise his role? Little is known except for speculation. Is Patrick Stewart returning as an academy instructor? admiral, captain or civilian? Its no secret Patrick Stewart has the Midas touch so for some amazing reason, Stewarts got the gift to make it so with us - the fans.

Starfleet has the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E so whats next? Who gets the captains chair? Johnathan Frakes gets the directors chair with SirPatStew as executive producer. Recent Star Trek Picard leaked photos give us Picard in civilian clothes with an Ensign asking his name.

What do you think? Speak now to be heard and become immortalized for all trek time, lol.

CAPTAIN JEAN LUC PICARD
FIRST CONTACT

Even the name sounds cool, Star Trek Picard - so much is right about it. The USS Enterprise represents true hope, vast technology, and service to humankind. According to Alex Kurtzman, we should not expect a reboot of Star Trek TNG but rather expect a more psychological show about a man in his twilight years, the hero we need right now.

What are you hoping for when you switch on Star Trek Picard?

Live Long and my Trekker Friends, Picard is back!

JEAN LUC PICARD IS BACK

Its the Star Trek newsflash we've all been waiting to hear for ages, trekkers. 20 years have passed after Star Trek Nemesis!

by davemetlesits

Now finally, who else but captain of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 and friend to Trekkers and Trekkies everywhere, Patrick Stewart himself stuns us all, when he appears out of the cosmos to a cheering audience in Las Vegas so thrilled to see him. Why I hear you ask? Well, our former captain had plenty to say, thats what.

The news Patrick delivered at Comic Con over the weekend infected the place with delighted, grinning trekkers. So what was it?

Jean Luc Picard is Back - Just look at Patrick Stewart beaming with arms opened wide (Below) - Says it all really. What were the fans thinking? Check out the video. Energized with excitement many trekkers were busy high fiving, while others cried and laughed for joy.

If you want to read what Patrick Stewart had to say about Jean Luc's return instead of watching the video, I've included what he said at Las Vegas Comic Con below, enjoy reading my friends.

I will always be very proud to have been a part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with Star Trek had run its natural course. It is, therefore, an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over.
During these past years, it has been humbling to hear stories about how The Next Generation brought people comfort, saw them through difficult periods in their lives or how the example of Jean-Luc inspired so many to follow in his footsteps, pursuing science, exploration and leadership. I feel I'm ready to return to him for the same reason – to research and experience what comforting and reforming light he might shine on these often very dark times. I look forward to working with our brilliant creative team as we endeavor to bring a fresh, unexpected and pertinent story to life once more.
PATRICK STEWART

This #Picard news is very exciting. It's the brain child of our dear friend and lifelong Trek "keeper of the flame" #KirstenBeyer. This couldn't have happened to a better or more talented artist and human being! Exciting times for #StarTrek!

What I can honestly say is that I was aware this was in the works even before I began developing my outline for the TNG book I'm currently writing, and that carrying on the TNG storyline as we've been laying it out all this time was my specific mandate, both from my editor and CBS Licensing. I point-blank asked about any particular concerns or issues which might impact what I was planning should this come to pass, and was told to carry on with what I was doing.
Personally, I'm not too worried about the TrekLit status quo, at least as things currently stand, but that's me, speaking only for myself but based on the conversations I've had about this.
There's a particular aesthetic choice that was made by I believe Mr. Westmore. But for me, I think the coolest challenge, because I like to do this with any design that I do, is to make sense of those choices. It's kind of reverse engineering why there's tubes and stuff going in and out of things. So it'd be to try and make sense of that and then contemporize that aesthetic with what audiences demand today and expect.
I also think that there's, again, it's me, so there's got to be a little room for a little steampunk in there. A little antediluvian something. So not too retro, and not a gear, but there is a biomech feel to the the whole thing, so to go to Geiger and steampunk and find a new way to combine it and maybe play with the colours and bring the palette out of the greys and the blacks and find some rusty and cool metallic tones, then also start defining the flesh in a different way. Like if some of those limbs are necrotic, is the tube pumping life back into them? Do they change color depending on how long they've been in the collective? How does the body stay alive? There are so many things to play with. It's sort of just taking what's there and playing with it. Michael Westmore Jr. did all the lasers and lights inside of all the little LED components. That's something today with 3D printing we can push infinitely further. We can do a lot more lighting and more moving parts.

All Hands Battle Stations

PICARD: This is about saving the future of humanity.
LILY: Jean-Luc, blow up the damn ship!
PICARD: No! ...No! (Picard breaks the starship display cabinet with his phaser rifle)
PICARD: No! ... I will not sacrifice the Enterprise. We've made too many compromises already. Too many retreats. They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again! The line must be drawn here, ...this far, no further! And I will make them pay for what they've done.
LILY: You broke your little ships. ...See you around, Ahab.
PICARD: 'And he piled upon the whale's white hump, a sum of all the rage and hate felt by his own race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it.'
LILY: What? PICARD: 'Moby Dick.' LILY: Actually, I never read it.
PICARD: Ahab spent years hunting the white whale that crippled him. A quest for vengeance, ...but in the end it destroyed him and his ship.
LILY: I guess he didn't know when to quit

Star Trek First Contact is a cool movie. I love it when Lilly rather gloomily, says 'See you around, Ahab.' All seems lost. Its seems to me Lilly Sloane's comparison of Picard to Ahab captures the moment beautifully. Despite Lilly's heated words, our valiant skipper delivers a powerful message - Never Give Up, Never Surrender. After all how would you feel about blowing up the beloved Enterprise?

Well my trekker friends, I just wanted you to know Spacerguy is back! The show must go on. All hands battle stations! Lets go get the Borg.

X-Men Xavier

Patrick Stewart is most widely known for his roles as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and its successor films, as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men film series, and for his prolific stage roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Stewart's character, Charles Xavier, is very similar to Picard and himself, "a grand, deep-voiced, bald English guy" aka Professor X, the leader and founder of the X-Men.

Throughout most of his comic book history, Xavier is paraplegic, although his body houses one of the world's most powerful mutant minds. As a high-level telepath, Xavier can read, control, and influence human minds. Stewart has also since voiced that role as Xavier in 4 video games including: X-Men Legends, X-Men Legends II, and X-Men: Next Dimension. Truly he is one of the most powerful telepaths in the Marvel Universe.

Locutus of Borg

L is for Locutus of Borg but who is he? In Star Trek TNG's Best of Both Worlds, Picard's Enterprise-D crew get their butts kicked in a battle with the big scary Borg. Victorious, trek's cybernetic baddies beam off the Federation's Galaxy class fortress with their prized possession, Captain Picard. How could this be happenning, I hear you ask. Well to be honest, TNG's Best of Both Worlds left many of us gobsmacked on stardate 44001.4 It was spine chillingly thrilling watching Picard become Locutus of Borg. However, many of us still couldn't accept Starfleet's finest diplomat was now the enemy, a walking and talking Borg.

'I am Locutus of Borg. Resistance is futile. Your life as it has been is over. From now on, you will service us.'

How did you react when Commander Riker gave the order?

 'Mr Worf.....fire.'

Guinan and Picard?

G is for Guinan but who is she? In Star Trek's TNG Whoopi Goldberg plays Guinan who runs the USS Enterprise-D's ten forward lounge. Amazingly she belongs to a mysterious race of El Aurians that doesn't seem to age, Guinan is over 500 years old. Captain Picard and Guinan share a very strong bond, they have a trust and an unspoken understanding that surpasses normal friendship and hints in some TNG episodes at possible intimacy.

She is the only character apart from the omnipotent Q who can challenge Picard's orders and get him to change his mind. Data believes her perception goes beyond linear time, which explains why she knew the timeline was altered in 'Yesterdays Enterprise'A self confessed Star Trek fan and Golden Globe winner to boot, the actress told Gene Roddenberry she wanted a part to play on the show. Whoopi Goldberg has been a Star Trek fan since childhood (her hero was Nichelle Niichols) so her character took off when producers found out she wanted to be part of the series.

What do you think, did Captain Picard and Guinan have a secret love affair?

Star Trek TNG Redemption (with Klingons)

'Lursa and B'Etor are feared. And fear is power.' Chancellor Gowron

Who are Lursa and B'Etor? Lursa and B'Etor are two seductive power hungry, Klingon females and a force to be reckoned within the Klingon Empire except for one little chink in their Klingon armor. Their brother Duras got swift justice at the receiving end of a curved bat'leth in 2367 for killing Worf's mate K'Ehleyr. Why I hear you ask? True warriors live by the Klingon Code of Honor which boils down to loyalty, honor and courage etc. The House of Duras apparently failed to appreciate that such a code even existed. That left Gowron next in line to succeed K'mpec as High Chancellor which didn't sit well with the sisters, at all. Lets have some fun with Star Trek TNG history.

In Star Trek's TNG 'Redemption' episode Barbara March's Lursa appears with her smaller foxy sister B'Etor played by Gwynyth Walsh for the first time. Its fair to say these two lovelies are united in their quest for power, conspiring with Romulans, hatching secretive plots to achieve only one thing. Control of the Klingon Empire! How trustworthy can they really be?

'Klingons do not surrender their weapons.'

The sisters are eventually exposed for Romulan double dealing but manage to escape and hook up with Dr Tolian Soran in Star Trek Generations. You remember him? He's the guy that snuffed Captain Kirk under that corny bridge scene bringing a dismal end to one of Science Fictions most iconic characters.

In 1991, when Redemption first aired on TV I recall being fascinated by the Duras sisters cunning treachery which added a crisp, wonderful tension between the characters in TNG's Redemption. These gutsy gals were determined to have a go at the Leadership by presenting their nephew and rightful 'male heir' Toral to the Klingon High Council.

When I saw that cocky kid strut his stuff into the Great Hall of the Klingon Home world, I was stumped and a little impressed by his sheer cheek. Not bad....but Toral gotta have some nerve. Alot of nerve going in their confronting those blood thirsty klingons! Gowron was enraged and leapt up from his council throne with his warriors d'k tahg in his hand.... (Go on Gowron, GET HIM!) A boy leader challenging the High Council with no love for duty or combat! You've got to be having a laugh......

In a flash Gowron's crazed eyes were alight with hatred but then a grin appears on his face. "Don't make me laugh" as he nearly busts a gut laughing. Toral is defiant but strangely unnerved for a boy that wanted to be chancellor. Murmurs of dissension echo the chamber.

Gowron continues. "What harlets lair did you find him in Lursa?"

Humiliation is written all over Toral's face. Gowron rejects the defiant klingon and the council is split. Its not like the boy's true blood lines aren't suspect or a bitter pill to swallow. Still good ol' Captain Picard does his Arbiter of Succession bit by refusing Toral's leadership challenge plunging the Klingon Empire into civil war chaos, pitting Klingon against Klingon. Gowron eventually becomes chancellor of the Empire except its not over.

'Do you hear the cry of the warrior calling you to battle, calling you to glory?'

I find it interesting Gowron's restoration of Worf's family honor came at a price. Discommendation was a heavy cross for Worf to shoulder alone. Sure, Worf no longer had to be the Fall Guy for Duras's treachery, (the guy who poisoned K'mpec) so now Gowron wants Worf's allegiance and its time to pay the piper. Worf is torn between Starfleet duty and his loyalty to the Klingon Empire. You'd think Picard would've given Worf some much deserved leeway here but instead Jean Luc plays hardball. The conclusion to Star Trek's TNG Redemption P1 ends with a real tear jerker when warrior Worf tells Picard:

'Then I resign my Starfleet commission as a Starfleet Officer.'

Is this really Patrick Stewart?

Patrick Stewart, Simon Pegg and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) roam the streets of london and meet gold medalist Ryan Lochte. What a coinincidence! Stewart is in cunning disguise as a light fingered ticket touter but is it really him? Hes funny to watch. Simon Pegg arrives on the scene dully unimpressed by the captain's shenanigans but hey, its the London Olympics! Who cares so long as you get a front row seat.

Stewart cocks it up perfectly and says,

Strike me! Mr Pegg can I just say, I think you were fukin' marvelous in Star Wars! MARVELOUS!

Heres a tale in the ancient art of ticket scalping. I suspect Ryan Lochte might just be a little sore when he wakes up.

P is for the Picard Song

P is for the Picard Song! Heres Patrick Stewart live and in the flesh....SINGING an A to Z special in hilarious form! I've added the lyrics so you can have some fun and sing along! Its not often we hear the captain of the Enterprise-D singing a tribute for Star Trek's creator, Gene Roddenberry. I wonder could this be the same Jean Luc Picard we've all come to know, love and serve under during our galactic trek through the stars?

Perhaps its high time to sing the Picard song?

“Mr. Crusher, set course for Starbase…
A–Gene, you’re adorable.
‘B,’ you’re so beautiful.
‘C,’ you’re a cutie full of charm,
‘D,’ you’re a darling, and ‘E’ you’re exciting,
And ‘F,’ you’re a feather in my arms.
‘G,’ you look good to me,
‘H,’ you’re so heavenly,
‘I,’ you’re the one I idolize.
‘J,’ we’re like Jack and Jill.
‘K,’ you’re so kissable.
‘L’ is the love light in your eyes.
M-N-O-P, I could go on all day.
Q…’Q'? R-S-T, alphabetically speaking, you’re ok.
‘U’ make my life complete.
‘V’ means you’re very sweet.
W-X-Y-Zed!
It’s fun to wander through
The alphabet with you.
To tell you what you mean to…Engage!”

Old Earth Satellite

O is for Old Earth Satellite. The USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D encounters frozen bodies in Star Trek TNG episode of 'the neutral zone.' The strange thing is these humans died over 300 years ago on planet earth!

All is definitely not what it seems. Data the android is fascinated by the 20th century Old Earth Vessel and is itching to investigate. Blackbeard reluctantly gives his officers the green light. Together Worf and Data beam aboard only to discover three humans in a deep freeze cryogenic sleep!

The question facing Data now is what to do with them? A mystery also surrounds the destruction of Federation and Romulan outposts marking the arrival of the United Federation of Planet's secretive neighbours, the Romulans after 50 years of silence. Captain Picard's return to the USS Enterprise-D reveals the man is not a happy camper. Data's and Dr Beverly Crusher shenanigans only makes matters worse. The good doctor has little choice but to thaw out the Enterprise's new passengers, apparently. Picard is unimpressed.

I am never critical of any member of my staff being curious, but... the timing is just so...
DATA
I could not leave them there, Captain. The condition of the vehicle was deteriorating.
PICARD
But, Data -- they were already dead. I mean... what more could have happened to them?
DATA
I see your point, Captain, but at the time...

What would you have done?
